The breakfast was the best part-loads of choices and deliciously well-cooked! Our room was spacious and tidy. Only downside was the soft beds. Could be firmer for a comfy sleep 😊

It's art deco design and decadent feel. Hayley's help and warmth the following morning.
We were utterly misled at every stage over the availability of dinner. The booking, the hotel information and even the staff informed us that we could eat dinner in the hotel. Unfortunately nobody seemed to know that the restaurant wasn't open on a Tuesday night. It was torrential rain outside, so our 'Dinner' turned out to be a modest microwaved one course 'meal' chosen from a tiny selection in the bar, sat on a bar stool, with no ambience whatsoever. We went to bed hungry after a long day's journey. Just not good enough. Sorry.

Location: the hotel was so close to Napier by Cyclone Gabrielle as well as the town centre and seafront. We had air conditioned and great-sized room with safe.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at The County Hotel in Napier. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the room was wonderful. Churchill's Bar was inviting and the barman excellent; knowledgable about wines and the area's history and attractions. The hotel restaurant offered superb food, beverages and service. The library with complimentary port available was a great place to end the day. We would highly recommend this hotel for its ambience and service to anyone needing a break away.

The staff were really nice, including daily notes with local weather updates and thoughtful suggestions for nearby activities.
Our room was situated above the restaurant, leading to unwanted noise from outside speakers, made it difficult to relax.

The County's in-house restaurant totally blew my mind with its artistic flair in dishes. Plus, the bar ambiance is perfect for a nightcap after a day of exploring. Angela, our lovely host, just like family.

New-fashioned room, neat, with walk in wardrobe, the basics, for instance. Incredible and amazing location in Napier right by the Hotel's Wine Street restaurant, private library, and the conference centre...

This is a very charming hotel, conveniently located in centre of Napier. It has the advantages of a small hotel, it is efficiently run, the staff are uniformly friendly, and the food is excellent. I have stayed in several colonial-era hotels - a type that I like - and this is a very fine example. Highly recommended, and good value for money.
No complaints at all. The lighting in the room could be a bit better for reading.
